Natural Mold Removers - 100% Organic SuggestionsCommercially produced chemical mold removers are on the whole very effective but should be treated with extreme caution, manufacturers instructions must be followed very carefully, especially if where there are children and pets in the equation. Strong, potentially dangerous chemicals should ideally only be handled and applied by experienced professionals however, hiring contractors to remove mold is an extremely costly business. So which natural products make good mold removers? You actually have are quite a few options open to you - these examples of natural mold removers have been found to kill mold just as effectively as their chemical equivalents but without posing the health hazards associated with chemical based commercial mold removers. Here are four suggestions of natural products for use as natural mold removers: Tea Tree Oil - This readily available from health food stores. It works brilliantly as a mold remover. You will discover however, that it is fairly expensive to buy but you will only need small amounts to get great results. It can be used on walls, ceilings, shower curtains etc. You should be aware however, that it does have a particularly strong smell which takes a bit of time to disperse - on the other hand anything is better than a musty moldy smell! Tea Tree Oil seems to remove and kill a large majority of mold types. Treatment is easy - mix two teaspoons of the tea tree oil with about two cups of water in a spray bottle. Shake gently to combine the ingredients then spray areas affected by mold growth with the solution. No need to rinse, simply leave to dry out. You can keep the mixture ready for next time - it will keep indefinitely! Vinegar - something which virtually every household will have in a kitchen cupboard and it is cheap to buy. Pour White distilled vinegar into a spray bottle and spray the solution directly onto the area of mold. It is estimated that vinegar will kill around 82% of all molds. Again, don't rinse, allow the area to dry. The big down side of using vinegar as a mold remover is that it is really smelly - but a good, cheap and effective option non the less, if you don't mind the smell! Grapefruit Seed Extract - this one has one huge advantage over the first two - it is completely odour free. It has a downside in that it is like tea tree oil expensive to buy but again only small quantities are required. Use twenty drops of the grapefruit extract mixed with two cups of water in a spray bottle and shake gently to mix. Apply the solution to the area of mold, no rinsing is required simply allow it to dry thoroughly. This mixture will also last indefinitely. Commercially produced natural mold removers and killers are becoming increasingly popular. One of these is a product called Molderizer which is a 100% organic mold remover and cleaner which is completely safe for use in homes with children and pets. Molderizer works by altering the DNA make up of the mold therefore killing it and preventing it reappearing. Molderizer has been found to be extremely efficient and will help deodorise the musty odour given off by the mold replacing it with a clean, fresh scent. The main positive aspect to this product is that you can use it on virtually any type of surface, without fear of causing additional damage including carpets, rugs and soft furnishings. Of course, finding the right natural mold remover is important but the best cure for mold is to prevent it growing in the first place. Good property maintenance plays and important part. By taking care of any small repairs regarding plumbing, and the fabric of the building immediately small problem do not become large and expensive problems to fix. It is also relatively simple to remedy problems with excess humidity in the home by simply improving the ventilation in your home. Open windows, fit a ventilation fan in the bathroom, fit a cooker hood with an extractor fan in the kitchen. (both of these should be vented directly outside.) Invest in a dehumidifier which will help reduce humidity and condensation quickly and efficiently and is an excellent tool for drying out any particularly damp rooms. Keeping humidity below 55% will prevent mold growing. Many dehumidifiers also come with various types of air filter which will help to remove mold spores from the atmosphere in your home. Caution: If you are at all unsure of the type of mold you have growing in your home please seek professional advise - it may be harmful!
